Aveda Hair Shampoo Reviews

Although this is great for those with normal hair too (it smells WONDERFUL), I would recommend it to anyone with mild to severe scalp conditions. I have a condition diagnosed by a doctor that causes my scalp to itch and bleed. I didn't want to put harsh chemicals in my hair so I steered away from prescription products after a while. (They seemed to help my scalp but ruined my hair..) I tried this stuff out, and, viola! It works wonders and my hair felt clean and smooth as well. I absolutely love Aveda and would recommend this/ any of their products to anyone!

I have fine, normal hair and this left my hair very dry even after using the matching conditioner. It has a nice smell and would probably be better for someone with normal to oily hair or lives somewhere with higher humidity. I live in Colorado so I need something more hydrating because this left me with flyaways.

Great for making grey hair have a silver sheen. Hard to find other than on Internet.

I've used this for about a year now and it's fantastic. It doesn't leave a build up or do anything weird to your hair. (I had used one of the Garnier and one of the Tresemme shampoos and both of them dried my hair out over time.) It's expensive, but in this case you actually get what you pay for. My hair is just past my shoulders and I've been using the same 33.8 oz. bottle for 11 months. I use it sparingly and wash my hair about 5 times a week. I'd recommend the Be Curly conditioner and the curl creme, as well. I use all three daily and get lots of compliments. $60-$75 once a year really isn't that bad for great shampoo. I also dye my hair with a semi-permanent dye (Natural Instincts) and this shampoo is super gentle, leaving the color in good shape.

I don't know why, and there has never been mention of this from Aveda about Rosemary Mint shampoo, but this really works well for getting the yellow out of my white hair. So much better than using the weird blueing shampoos. I haven't had much trouble with drying...but I do swim everyday and I think this shampoo helps get the chlorine out as well....

I first came across this product when I went to a salon that only uses Aveda products, so I already knew that I liked it. Unfortunately, the salon no longer carries the Scalp Benefits line, so I bought it here. I've always had an itchy, oily scalp; however, other brands such as Head and Shoulders and Garnier anti-dandruff shampoos always made my fine, oily hair feel dry and dull.After my package arrived, I used it just one time, and the itching is completely gone. I've seen a little bit of dandruff still, but my scalp was so itchy and dandruffy to begin with that I'm sure it just takes some time before it goes away completely. I MUST warn you, though, that this shampoo smells of *freshly ground black pepper.* If you can't stand that smell, you should probably try another product.Also, other reviews have stated that the shampoo alone doesn't work. They are probably right, but I haven't used only the shampoo. I strongly recommend using the conditioner as well to get the best results (and take away some of the peppery smell!). I'll definitely be purchasing this product again.

If you are looking for a gentle but effective shampoo with a wonderful natural fragrance that keeps your rebonded hair silky smooth and straight - get this! The shampoo is gentle on the scalp. The plant based ingredients in this shampoo mean that my scalp is no longer itchy and irritatable. Its been half a year since I rebonded my hair but this shampoo keeps my hair silky straight and swinging. What I appreciate most about this shampoo is, despite its super power in making my hair smooth, my hair doesnt feel weighed down. Two thumbs up for this range of shampoo (and conditioner)! I purchased this two weeks ago and haven't received it yet. Do not recommend using online to purchase this product.

this is not real aveda, i have been using aveda for years and this is not the real product,terrible. i am very disapointed

I bought this from my Aveda provider right after they died my hair, and it really preserved the color. However, after use my hair would still feel dirty- oily and limp. I would try using more shampoo or I'd shampoo it twice but it still felt as if my hair was dirty. I tried the L'oreal pure shampoo, and it got my hair clean and preserved my color, but not as well as this. This product would be better for someone without thick or oily hair, but for my heavy hair, this doesn't cut it.

Aveda's Pure Abundance Volumizing Shampoo really works. I've been using it for a few months, along with the conditioner and my natural hair has gotten thicker and healthier. When I went to a beauty shop to get my hair straightened, the beautician told me how thick my hair was.

This is a refreshing product that strips the gells and impurities out of my hair daily, and leaves my scalp feeling refreshed.
